Inspire
In 2006 I found myself in a miserably depressed state. I woke up
every morning not wanting to face the day. There were many days I
didn’t get out of bed and days I kept myself in the confines of my
bedroom because it was a small secure place to be. I was searching
on the Internet one day looking for help with a skin disorder when
God lead me to a woman mentor who was able to help me release the
“issues in my tissues”. It was through this mentor that I began to
learn the importance of self-care and emotional release. (The full
story is at

My mentor took me through many creative fun activities to release
the pains and hurts from the past … from art techniques to fun
dates with myself and lots in between. I learned that I do matter
and that I need personal attention from myself – loving, caring
attention. That following summer I had an idea. Wouldn’t it be fun
to do a personal 30-day self-care challenge? It had such a powerful
impact on my life I knew that it needed to be taken to the world.
The Wonder Woman Challenge was born. I think of it has my way of
paying it forward.
Aspire
I am currently involved in the planning and executing of worldwide
women’s conferences called Woman Discover Yourself of which the
first will be held here in Pittsburgh this summer. My leadership
involvement with this program goes beyond my wildest dreams to say
the least. It will give me a huge platform in which to share my
Wonder Woman message. All I can say, ladies, is to stay tuned. The
formal announcement will be coming in a week or so.
Admire
First and foremost, Jesus Christ has had the greatest influence on
my life. He has been my rock in all of the good and the bad. I have
thought so many times over the years that I have no idea where I
would be without my faith in Him. I can’t always see where my
ultimate destination is but He always gives me the next step in my
journey … no matter what it is … personal, family, career, etc. and
I’ve never been let down.
There are several people who have influenced me which lead to The
Wonder Woman Challenge. Georgie Holbrook is the mentor I spoke of
who taught me about self-care and emotional release. Dr. Cheryl
Townsley, ND a beautiful Christian woman who has had a major
influence on my life in the area of holistic health. I consider her
to be the best naturopathic doctor in the country.
The third person would be Jon Benson who is a professional fitness
guru. He goes way beyond nutrition and exercise and deals with our
psychology. I took a 12-week class from him years ago called
Education In Destiny that had nothing to do with fitness but
everything to do with our life’s purpose and abundance. It was
during this class that The Wonder Woman Challenge was
conceived.
I just want to say here that having mentors in our life is
important. They are able to see things in us that we can’t always
see. They stretch us, encourage us, and love us where we are to be
more of who we are. I encourage you to seek out mentors!!
Backfire
Fear has been my major obstacle. It has held me back from so much.
Overcoming anything is just one decision away and that’s what I
did. This past year, particularly, I made a decision to step up my
life and operate more out of strength. It hasn’t always been easy,
as I’ve had to work through insecure, fearful moments and feelings
of wanting to quit. I did whatever it took. I found myself many
times going out for walks, gardening or whatever to pray and give
myself talks. I would muster the courage to keep going, to take the
next step.
When the New Year was approaching it became very clear to me that
2009 would be all about courage. Courage is the opposite of fear.
Because I have embraced the call to courage it has opened the doors
to huge opportunities one of which I have already shared, the Woman
Discover Yourself conferences. The Bible tells us to not fear but
be strong and courageous.
